Easy deep fried lechon kawali, is a simple and absolutely delicious Filipino pork belly comfort food. Our recipe is fantastic for lunch or dinner and eaten with rice. Popular condiments that accompanies this dish includes vinegar, soy mixture, any version of sweet Thai chili sauce and of course who can forget, Mang Tomas All-Purpose Sauce (simply known as the Lechon sauce). Of course, you can eat crispy pork belly as is or dipped in any condiment of your choice. We have also created easy deep fried lechon kawali using our Kamado Joe ceramic grill. We love both outcome and they are both different in their unique ways.
To get that succulent texture of the pork belly, we first boil it on medium-high heat in six quarts of water for 40 minutes before finishing it up in 6 cups of peanut oil in the deep fryer. If you have peanut allergies, use vegetable oil or canola oil instead.
